The UV index measures the strength of ultraviolet rays from the sun. The tool gets the current UV and the day maximum from Open-Meteo for the place you pick, ranks it on the WHO scale and gives advice on sunscreen, clothing and when to avoid the sun.

At what UV level do I need sunscreen?
From UV 3 you should use sunscreen; from 6 add a hat, sunglasses and avoid strong midday sun. Fair skin and children need extra care.
Why can UV be high on a cloudy day?
Thin clouds block only part of UV, so you can still burn. Rely on the UV index, not on how hot or bright it feels.
